GEM Testing Ltd. is a locally owned and operated geotechnical and material engineering and testing firm located just outside of Medicine Hat, Alberta. We test materials such as soil, concrete and asphalt in order to ensure that the construction work being done is up to specifications. Our employees have over 43 years of combined experience in geotechnical, materials and environmental engineering, and testing services and activities. 

The focus of these activities include: geotechnical investigations, environmental site assessments (phase I, II and III), project management, and materials engineering and testing including being involved with:

Endeavours such as these entail co-operative and responsive technical project liaisons between owners, architects, prime engineering consultants and contractors. All of our field employees are CCIL certified and have been trained in WHMIS, TDG and radiation safety.

GEM Testing Ltd. was incorporated in May 2007 by CEO and Senior Project Engineer Mr. Scott Dooher P.Eng., who is a geotechnical engineer who has over 20 years of experience within Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario. GEM Testing Ltd. is a registered permit holder with APEGA and APEGS and prides itself on accomplishing not only its goals but the goals of its clients in a timely and professional manner.

Scott Dooher, P. Eng.

CEO/Project Engineer/Senior Engineer/Senior Technician

Mr. Dooher Has over 20 years of experience in geotechnical, materials and environmental engineering and testing, including investigations, design and construction recommendations, and project management. His education in engineering was obtained in Ontario and since graduating he has been involved in consulting, engineering and testing services in Alberta, Eastern British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Southern Ontario. His areas of responsibility have been those of Field Technician, Junior Project Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Management, and Senior Engineer.

Mr. Dooher is CCIL certified and has been trained in WHMIS, TDG, first aid, radiation safety, and Radiation Safety Officer Training.
