A Look at Our Projects in Alberta & Saskatchewan
Prior to May 2007, the current employees of GEM Testing Ltd. were employed at another geotechnical firm located in Medicine Hat, Alberta and surrounding area. The current employees at GEM Testing Ltd. have a combined experience of over 43 years in over 800 projects in the Medicine Hat area including Brooks, Suffield and Cypress County, Maple Creek and Swift Current. The following is a small list of some of the projects that GEM Testing Ltd. has been involved with since incorporating in 2007:
Southlands Residential Subdivision — Phase 6A, 6B and 6C
GEM Testing Ltd. was listed as the geotechnical engineering firm of record for the project and the responsibilities included: quality assurance services which consisted of compaction monitoring, concrete and asphalt testing, site supervision and development recommendations.
Vista Ridge Country Residential Subdivision
GEM Testing Ltd. completed the geotechnical investigation and provided the development and construction recommendations including, structural pavement design, utility trench backfill, foundation and bearing capacity recommendations, and concrete recommendations.
Saamis Heights Residential Subdivision — Phase 7
GEM Testing Ltd. was listed as the geotechnical engineering firm of record for the project and the responsibilities included: quality assurance services which consisted of compaction monitoring, concrete and asphalt testing, site supervision and development recommendations. We also completed the geotechnical investigation and environmental site assessment prior to construction.
Eagle Butte Road — 7.0km Stretch
GEM Testing Ltd. was responsible for the sub-grade, sub-base and base course compaction quality control, asphalt quality control, the asphaltic concrete pavement mix design, and provided on-site recommendations. We also performed companion testing on site when requested or required, and worked with the quality assurance firm in order to expedite the project.
Costco Wholesale — Medicine Hat Store
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the construction of the new Costco store in Medicine Hat that began construction in June, 2007. We were responsible for the concrete quality control, the asphalt pavement mix design, asphalt pavement quality control and the pile design including on site recommendations. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site when requested or required.
Town of Redcliff Landfill Expansion
GEM Testing Ltd. was listed as the geotechnical engineering firm of record for the project and the responsibilities included: quality assurance services consisting of compaction monitoring, site supervision, laboratory testing (such as Atteberg Limits and Permeability tests) and development recommendations.
TransCanada Highway South Saskatchewan River Bridge
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the construction of the new West Bound Bridge in Medicine Hat that began construction in June, 2012. GEM Testing Ltd. was responsible for the concrete quality control, the asphalt pavement mix design for the diversion lanes, as well as on site recommendations. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site when requested or required.
TransCanada Highway Dunmore Road Overpass
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the construction of the new Overpass Bridge in Medicine Hat that began construction in July, 2013. We were responsible for the concrete quality control, the asphalt pavement mix design for the diversion lanes, as well as on site recommendations and the signal light pile design and inspection. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site when requested or required.
Maple Avenue South Saskatchewan River Bridge
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the rehabilitation construction of the existing Bridge in Medicine Hat that began construction in August, 2013. We were responsible for the concrete quality control, the asphalt pavement mix design for the diversion lanes, as well as on site recommendations and the signal light pile design and inspection. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site when requested or required.
Medicine Hat Event Center
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the construction of the new Event Center in Medicine Hat that began construction in June, 2013. We were responsible for the concrete quality control, the asphalt pavement mix design, and asphalt pavement quality control. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site when requested or required.
South Vista Residential Subdivision — Phase 10
GEM Testing Ltd. was listed as the geotechnical engineering firm of record for the project and the responsibilities included: quality assurance services which consisted of compaction monitoring, concrete and asphalt testing, site supervision and development recommendations.
The Keg — Medicine Hat
GEM Testing Ltd. was involved with the construction of the new The Keg restaurant in Medicine Hat that began construction in June, 2016. We were responsible for the quality assurance for the concrete, asphalt pavement, and we also were responsible for the bearing certificate and on site recommendations. GEM Testing Ltd. also performed companion testing on site throughout the project.
